Welcome to the Spring issue
of Partners in Costs magazine!
Spring is here! A season I always optimistically link to growth and a renewed future - which is certainly a theme in this issue of Partners in Costs.
In the world of costs, this spring sees an evolution to
the formation of costs budgets with the introduction
of electronic bills and, for many, new operational and marketing budgets. There will be many questions around how to use e-bills and how best to apportion operational costs and measure success so it’s a good thing you picked up this issue! Turn to pages 11 onwards for all your e-bill questions answered by our experts and there are some brilliant digital marketing tips from pages 28 onwards.
Professor Dominic Regan, our resident Wine Expert, is here to help us celebrate new beginnings and hopefully a warmer season and, possibly, this year’s Partners in Costs magazine Clinical Negligence Rising Star award winner. Turn to
page 2 to see how you can nominate a superstar on the rise from your firm. We are proud to announce that our first award is in association with AvMA. Be quick, the deadline for entries is 25 May 2018. With a prize of a weekend for
two in Paris, this award is not to be missed out on!
Enjoy this issue and, as ever, if you have any feature suggestions or feedback, please contact me at emma@emmawaddingham.com

We are now well into the year and plans are underway to ensure a smooth transition to the new format Bills of Costs, which will apply to all work done on Part 7 Multi Track claims from 6 April 2018.
Here at PIC, we appreciate that the introduction of the new Bill of Costs will not simply affect our own practices but will also involve a learning curve to all those involved in day to day time recording.
In this issue of Partners in Costs magazine, Dominic Woodhouse, PIC covers the anticipated changes in Detailed Assessments as a result of the implementation of the new electronic bill. Read his report on page 11 and another PIC overview from Sean Linley on page 15.
